Cleveland Browns chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta visited Dartmouth to speak to the QSS 30.01 Sports Analytics class, taught by College President Phil Hanlon and Government and Quantitative Social Science professor Michael Herron. DePodesta used sports analytics, like those taught in the QSS class, to mold the Oakland Athletics into a record-breaking team in 2002. The 2003 book Moneyball and eponymous 2011 film based on the Athletics’ 2002 season led DePoesta to become a household name. While on campus, DePodesta sat down for a Q&A with The Dartmouth.
