Steven Woloshin is a Professor in the Dartmouth Institute of Health Policy & Clinical Practice (TDI), Medicine, and Community & Family Medicine (CFMed), Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. 

His work focuses on improving how medical evidence is communicated to physicians, journalists, policymakers, and the public, largely by addressing excessive fear and hope caused by exaggeration and selective reporting in medical journals, advertising, and media. He co-authored the books Know Your Chances and Overdiagnosed, and his essays have appeared in outlets like The New York Times and The Washington Post. He is a founding organizer of the international Preventing Overdiagnosis meeting, sponsored by Oxford University and the BMJ, and created the Lisa Schwartz Foundation for Truth in Medicine. He also serves on the editorial board of JAMA Internal Medicine and the advisory board of the International Congress on Peer Review and Scientific Publication.

His contributions have earned awards from the American Medical Writers Association and the Society for Medical Decision Making for "pre-eminent contribution in research and enhancing the communication of medical evidence" and "exemplary leadership in the practical application of medical decision making research."
