QSS 82 poster session

On Tuesday, November 18, six majors and minors studying in the Program in Quantitative Social Science (QSS) presented their one-quarter culminating projects at a poster session in Rockefeller Center. Assistant Professor Herbert Chang led this group of students, all of whom were enrolled in QSS 82 during the fall term.

The students worked extremely hard to complete a range of projects from modeling 33 million chess sessions to the impact of El Nino on global exports. Other projects included NBA analytics and TV ratings and the impact of international games on NFL fan engagement.

Laurel Hamilton `26, a QSS minor, appreciated the small size of QSS 82 and shared that it allowed her the chance to really get to know her peers and to get a good amount of one-on-one time with Professor Chang. QSS major Samantha Trudeau pointed out that Professor Chang encouraged students to be driven by their own curiosity, become engaged, and make the projects their own. She said that she "felt super-invested" in her project, "From Monsoon to Market: The Economic Ripple Effects of ENSO Events in Vietnam."
