A recently published paper by QSS visiting faculty, Caitlin Myers, was covered in the New York Times article “Why Are Birthrates Down? Two New Studies Point to Phones.” In Professor Myers’s paper, “Is the iPhone birth control? Causal evidence from AT&T’s 2007-2011 carrier monopoly,” she and student advisee Ezekial Hooper present evidence that iPhone diffusion played a large role in the decline in fertility rates from 2007-2011.
We are pleased to announce that Professor Myers will be teaching QSS 81 this fall.
