QSS Postdoctoral Fellowship specifically to work on Nyhan Research

The Program in Quantitative Social Science (QSS) seeks a postdoctoral research fellow for the 2018-2019 academic year. The fellow will work with Professor of Government Brendan Nyhan and be housed in and affiliated with QSS, an interdisciplinary program that integrates modern statistical, computational, and mathematical tools with social science questions. Applicants should have a proven record of research success; excellent writing and organizational skills; and expertise in experimental design, applied statistics, and/or computational social science.

The QSS fellow will work with Nyhan on new and ongoing projects in areas including studies of misperceptions and fact-checking in politics and health. Project work will be determined in consultation with the fellow based on their skills and interests. In addition, the fellow will conduct their own research with mentoring from Nyhan and other faculty associated with QSS and participate in the intellectual life of QSS by working with QSS faculty and honors students on ongoing research, attending seminars and workshops, and presenting research results.

The annual stipend for each QSS fellow is $50,000. The fellowship can be extended through the 2019-20 academic year with the approval of Nyhan and the QSS Chair. Each fellow will receive a one-time $5,000 account for equipment, travel, and research materials. There may also be an opportunity to teach a one-quarter course with an extra stipend with the approval of the QSS chair.
